The House of Cayetano Roxas Montalbo

Historical Ibaan

With so many houses that we've visited in Ibaan, I didn't realize Mang Mael Patena's house in Yabyabin St., Poblacion, actually houses number of historical artifacts that he and his family have been keeping for number of years. These articles were actually and originally owned by Cayetano Roxas Montalbo and wife Juana Vasquez who lived in Ibaan in the 1930s. C. R. Montalbo, on the other hand, is the son of Municipality of Ibaan Mayor Martin Montalbo. Their home is currently being occupied by their daughter Aling Auring, Mang Mael's wife.

Most of the first couple's precious possessions include religious images and and some personal properties. Here are some of what we've dug from their past

This portrait shows married couple Cayetano Roxas Montalbo and Juana Vasquez Montalbo.
They lived in Yabyabin Street, Poblacion, Ibaan, Batangas. Their daughter Auring, with husband
Ismael Patena and their family now lives in their house. The portrait was painted in 1931 and
is still being kept by Auring and her family. C. R. Montalbo was actually the son of
Municipality of Ibaan's 4th Mayor Martin Montalbo.

Manufactured by Wester Bros in New York in 1879, this old piano string was originally owned by married
couple Cayetano Roxas Montalbo ang Juana Vasquez Montalbo. It weights around 100 kgs. and forms
part of the family's property. However, it's wooden body has been destroyed by termites and this is all that
remains of the piano.  It was brought to Ibaan from Nueva Vicaya by the couple's
eldest daughter Juliet Montalbo 1962.

This wood curving of Nuestra Senora is believed to be owned by

  1. I am presently building our family tree. My greatgrandmother is Victoriana Montalbo Caringal (Karingal), daughter of Kapitan Roman Karingal and Anastacia Montalbo.

May I know Mayor Martin Montalbo's parents' names please. Thanks! God bless.
