Ibaan's original kulambo is made of white, soft cotton. It goes through complicated process from the time its primary material is bought from Lipa City. It's being rinsed, dried, and sewed through "habihan". All over the municipality, different stages were done in different barangays. This primarily gave Ibaenos their means of living. Because of its cool and refreshing feeling everytime it touches one's skin, Ibaan kulambo became popular and made Ibaan famous all over the archipelago. However, with the introduction of machines and slow proliferation of industrialization in the municipality, plastic nylon was used for mass and faster production of current kulambo. Such caused the demise of Ibaan's original cotton kulambo. This kulambo is believed to be 40 years old or more and currently being kept by the mother of Engr. Mario Samson, Ibaan's Municipal Planning and Development Officer. Fr. Argente of Brgy. Talaibon is believed to be also keeping the same kind of kulambo.
Hello! Would you happen to know if anyone still makes these?
